Glaucoma is a blinding eye disease that damages the optic nerve, often caused by an abnormally high pressure in your eye. As a result of this damage people become blind. This disease is typically genetic inherited. So, what can you do to decrease a chance of getting this disease if you have a someone in your family with glaucoma? What lifestyle changes may help prevent the disease?

A recent large study looked at the dietary aspect, namely caffeine and its influence on glaucoma and pressure inside the eye. It turned out that high amounts of daily caffeine (more than 3 cups of coffee per day, which is equal to 321 milligrams) increase the risk of glaucoma, but only in people with the strongest genetic predisposition.
