According to a recent study, migraine could increase risk for all-cause dementia and Alzheimer’s. This finding is based on the meta-analysis of 5 published cohort studies, incorporating data from 249.303 people.

The researchers found that migraine was associated with an increased risk for all-cause dementia and Alzheimer disease, but not for vascular dementia.

More research is needed to confirm this finding and to investigate whether treatment of migraine might positively influence the risk of developing dementia.
