According to a recent large American study, people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have a higher incidence of migraine attackes or severe headaches.

The study analyzed data from 60.436 adults aged 18+ years and found that compared with those without IBD, participants with IBD had a higher age-adjusted migraine or severe headache prevalence (28.1% versus 15.2%).

So, if you suffer from migraine attacks or other type of severe headache, it would be wise to test for IBD. If you have it, than it’s a good news as you found what’s causing your migraines/headaches in the first place and know what to treat to get relieve from your sufferings.
