According to a recent large Australian study, eating more fruit and vegetables can lead to less stress across adults of all ages!

The study examined a relation between the diet of 8.689 Australians aged between 25 and 91 and their stress levels. The researchers concluded that people who ate at least 470 grams of fruit and vegetables daily had 10% lower stress levels than those who consumed less than 230 grams.

How exactly fruit and vegetables influence stress are still unclear. The researchers assume that nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, flavonoids and carotenoids could be the answer as they can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. The last ones are well-known factors of increased stress and anxiety, lower mood and age-related diseases.
